Audio Book Summaries

Last updated 9 September 2026

The short version. There is no account and no sign-in, so we never ask for your name, your email address or your phone number. What you listen to and where you got up to is stored on your phone and is not sent anywhere. The app does show ads and does report crashes, and both of those involve third parties, which is what the rest of this page explains.

Who this covers

This policy covers the Audio Book Summaries Android app and this website. The app is published by Neelkanth Technologies. If you do not agree with this policy, please stop using the app.

What stays on your phone

These are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to us:

Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Clearing the app's storage from your Android settings does the same thing without removing the app.

What is sent, and to whom

Audio and cover imagesWhen you play or browse a title, your device requests the file from our content server. Like any web server it records the request, including your IP address, as an ordinary access log. We use these logs to keep the service running and to spot faults.
Ads (Google AdMob)Ads are served by Google. To do that, Google may use your device's advertising identifier and information about the ad request. Google acts as an independent controller for this, and its own policies apply.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)If the app crashes, a report is sent to Google containing the error, the device model, the operating system version and a Firebase installation identifier. It does not contain your listening history.
Basic usage countsSome builds of the app send a small number of anonymous event counts, such as the app being opened. These are tagged with a random identifier that the app generates on your device. It is not your advertising ID and it is not tied to you. It is regenerated if you reinstall the app.

Ads and your choices

The app is free and is paid for by advertising. We do not sell your data, because we do not hold data about you to sell.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

You will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's consent management platform. You can change your answer at any time: open Settings in the app and choose Privacy options. That row appears whenever the law requires it to.

Everywhere

Android lets you limit ad tracking or delete your advertising ID from Settings, Google, Ads on your device. You can read Google's own explanation of how it uses data from apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Children

The app is intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Some titles summarise books written for adults, including books about relationships. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please get in touch and we will remove it.

About the summaries

Every summary in the app is an original dramatized work written for this app. The characters, scenes and dialogue are invented. The summaries are not the books themselves, are not affiliated with or endorsed by any author or publisher, and are not a substitute for reading the original work. Book titles and author names are used only to identify the work being summarised.

How long anything is kept

Server access logs are kept for a short period for operational and security purposes and are then rotated out. Crash reports and ad data are retained by Google under its own retention policies. Anything on your device stays until you delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Because the app holds no account and no profile, the fastest route for most requests is simply to uninstall, which removes everything stored locally, and to reset your advertising ID. For anything beyond that, contact us using the form below and we will respond.

Security

Content is delivered over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but because the app collects no names, addresses, passwords or payment details, there is very little about you to lose.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated policy.
